Recording Diary

August 15 – the record is done. And mixed. And remixed. And about to be mastered. And then I begin writing the next one but this time I might actually have a band to record it with. Regardless, I must learn to play piano.

May 18th  – retracked “stay” a few times.  went with the stripped down version.  Working on drum track for This War Won’t End.  Good progress.   Once that is done, some more guitar, perhaps bass and a bunch of vocals and then i call in the big guns for some lead guitar and violin tracks.

May 9 2010 – tracked “stay where you are”.  vocals and guitar.  totally redlined the Avalon and Lil Freq which was fun.  Should do that more.    Probably have to retrack but arrangement is taking shape.  Reminded me of recording a whole album in 3 days on my 8 track.  3 days vs. 8 years.   hmm.

April 13 – Ambulance – new vox, new accordian, removed a bunch of old stuff, used the old cave spring reverb and made progress.   Continued to work on lyrics and arrangement for the ever growing TWWE.  Collected $2.00 worth of empty cans while walking the dog.  Path to riches!

April 12 – Ambulance -  bass, drums, accordion, etc.    As usual, when I start to get to where I am happy with an arrangement, it becomes clear I have to re-record all the parts properly.

April 8 – Drums tracking set up and ideas for Ambulance.  Good news is that my drum mic preamps still work.  Been a while.  Organ part is wearing well.  Vocals and bridge to go.

tried some guitar parts on ambulance.  eh.  worked on new chord progression and version of TWWE.  Getting to be a long song and the one left that needs to be recorded from scratch.

April 6th -  Worked on Ambulance.  First up, properly labeling all previous tracks.  Next up, make some noise tracks (roughly 10) and adding some effects.  Added a little strange organ part, some vocal ideas.  Need to add more vocals, possible drums, bass and then the oddities.
