About

One Mad Son Music was started in 1996. It began with the release of a 6 song home recorded tape (we put things out on tape in those days) with a band called Leghound and a tape called Beggars and Choosers. That led to the formation of Cathode Bob and another cassette release followed by three albums over seven years by Cathode Bob. Some critical acclaim, some critical vitriol, some live shows in NYC and NJ followed. Cathode Bob’s second album made it to #1 on the radio charts for one week for one station in Alaska (seriously). During this time Justin Mikulka also released three records. Some critical acclaim, some critical vitriol, some live shows in NYC and NJ followed. Some mild college radio airplay also occurred. Justin’s picture appeared in Performing Songwriter magazine where he was referred to as “Dylanesque”. Along the way One Mad Son also put out three records by Albany NY band knotworking. Some critical acclaim, some critical vitriol and many live shows throughout the northeast followed. Knotworking also made some headway with college radio and were voted Best Band by Albany based Metroland. Justin helped knotworking leader Edward Gorch record a solo album released using the handle “coward”. Justin also made his studio a home for Slow Learner/Michael Napolitano to record tracks for two of his releases. Some critical acclaim, no critical vitriol, some live shows in NYC and NJ followed. False Positive is justin’s latest project where he collaborated with local musical hotshots Mike Hotter, Meg Hotter, Jon Cohen, Don Arnold, Donna Baird and Mike Napolitano. The current live lineup includes the brothers Matulis and Mike Hotter. The album will be released in the fall of 2010.
